Introduced during the 2014–2015 season, the Diablo Symphony’s Music for the Schools program came back strongly after the break imposed by the 2020 pandemic. During the 2022–2023 school year, ensembles from the orchestra took inspiring performances to seven schools in the Mount Diablo Unified School District. A performance of the mini-opera “Briar Patch” was attended by students from three of the district’s elementary schools (students from two of the schools walked a mile to the performance!), and concerts featuring instrumental music were performed in four additional schools.
(Page under construction—come back soon for more highlights from the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 seasons, including two free “in-theater” performances of “Peter and the Wolf,” enjoyed by 1,500 students brought to the Lesher Center for the Arts from several area elementary schools.)
