With the performance of Shostakovich’s 5th symphony, the Diablo Symphony remembers this great composer in his 50th anniversary season. The difficulties under which Shostakovich composed permeate the deep and complex emotions of this extraordinary and brilliant work. Performed alongside works by two American composers which celebrate the joys and bravery of everyday existence, this program explores the whole gamut of human emotions.
