Music Director & Conductor
Matilda Hofman has a busy schedule of guest conducting work in 2011. She has appeared at the Salzburg Festival in Austria in July and will continue her association with both the Empyrean Ensemble and the Left Coast Chamber Players throughout the year. From 2003 to the present she has been Artistic Director and Conductor of Kreisler Ensemble (UK), a young and versatile group dedicated to the performance of contemporary music in new and exciting forms and venues.
Maestra Hofman has held the position of Music Director of New Eastman Outreach Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of both the Eastman Symphony Orchestra and Eastman Philharmonic and Southbank Sinfonia, UK. She has performed with Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Nash Ensemble (UK), Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Paragon Ensemble, Scotland.
Ms. Hofman holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Eastman School of Music, a Postgraduate Diploma in Viola from the Royal Academy of Music, London, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Cambridge University (UK). She has participated in a number of Conducting Workshops and Master Classes and won first prize at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Conducting Workshop. She has received awards from the Conductor’s Guild, the League of American Orchestras, the Eastman Arts Leadership program, and the Performing Rights Society New Music Foundation.
