2012-2013 Season

The Diablo Symphony Orchestra performs its 50th season under the baton of newly-appointed Music Director and Conductor Matilda Hofman. Maestra Hofman describes the season she has programmed in a message to orchestra and audience members:

"I am so thrilled to be joining the Diablo season in this very special 50th anniversary year. It seems an opportune moment in the history of the symphony both to look back to the joyful music-making of past years and forward to new things to come. This season, Journeys, will lead us all on an exploration of music inspired memories and travel--composers inspired by foreign countries, imagined places, and new beginnings. We are very fortunate to have two very special soloists this year. Our first will be a very familiar figure to the DSO family-- Joyce Johnson Hamilton will be joining us in two different guises this year to celebrate her wonderful work with the orchestra over the past thirty years. This season you will experience her talents as a really marvelous trumpet player and composer, aspects with which you may not be so familiar. In addition, our first soloist of 2013 will be the dynamic Natasha Paremski, pianist extraordinaire and previous DSO young artist winner. The season finale will be a very special opera event -- I will keep some suspense about the details, but you will be in for a treat. I can't wait to see you there! "
